I’m a Registered Social Worker and mental health psychotherapist with specialized experience supporting individuals living with psychosis and schizophrenia. I have worked with people across different stages of their mental health journey, including first-episode psychosis, hospitalization, transition back into the community, and ongoing recovery.
I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel difficult, particularly when you have had experiences that others may not understand. My goal is to create a space where you can talk openly about what you are experiencing without fear of judgment. I take the time to understand your experiences, strengths, concerns, and goals, and we work together to determine what support would be most helpful for you. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I draw from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I adapt these approaches to each person rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I have particular experience supporting people who are navigating changes in their thoughts, perceptions, mood, relationships, or day-to-day functioning. I can help you explore ways to manage distressing experiences, develop coping strategies, strengthen your sense of control, work toward personal goals, and build confidence in navigating everyday life. I also recognize that mental health does not exist in isolation. Relationships, family, housing, work, finances, substance use, physical health, and other life circumstances can all affect how we feel and function. My background in hospital and community mental health has given me experience supporting people through these challenges while keeping their individual goals and priorities at the center of care. Most importantly, I believe therapy should be a place where you feel respected, heard, and understood. Whether you are looking for support with a specific challenge or are trying to better understand what you have been experiencing, I would be happy to work with you toward meaningful and sustainable change. I offer therapy in Hamilton as well as counselling in Ancaster. I also offer online and phone therapy sessions.
