Scott is a Registered Social Worker. He has completed a Master of Social Work from York University, a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education from Brock University, and a Master of Arts in Labour Studies from McMaster University. Scott views education as an on-going journey and he continues to learn an enormous amount through his life experience as both a service-provider and a service-user when it comes to social services, mental healthcare, and community support. Scott has over ten years of varied experience working with adults and teens facing a variety of social and emotional problems in life, with a focus on helping people to heal, grow, and change in directions that bring greater life fulfillment. As a therapist, Scott specializes in working with men who wish to build healthier relationships. He has received a great deal of positive feedback from men and their partners who have worked with him in court-mandated and voluntary programs. More broadly, Scott works with any and all individuals who are seeking to transform patterns of behaviour that no longer fit with the person they want to be in the world. Scott supports individuals struggling with addictions, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, and trauma histories. Scott takes a collaborative and non-judgemental approach to the therapeutic process. He has training and experience using a number of modalities and approaches, including Invitational Practice, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Informed Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Transformative Justice.
