Laura is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, along with certifications in Special Education and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).

With over 26 years of experience as an educator, Laura has supported individuals across the lifespan in regular education, special education, ESL, and career education settings. Through this work, she has developed a deep appreciation for the many ways people learn, grow, and make sense of their experiences; shaped by their unique backgrounds, identities, and worldviews.

Laura also brings meaningful lived experience as both an individual with, and a family member of, people with disabilities and neurodivergence. This perspective informs her work with empathy, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to creating a space where you can feel seen, respected, and understood—just as you are.

Her approach to therapy is client-centered, holistic, and trauma-informed, grounded in a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective. Laura considers the whole person: thoughts, emotions, relationships, cultural context, identity, and life experiences, as you work together. She recognizes that each person carries multiple, intersecting identities, and she strives to honour these fully in the therapeutic process.

Laura works with children (10+), adolescents, and adults, offering a warm, collaborative, and compassionate space where you can move at your own pace to address challenges such as depression, anxiety, caretaking and advocacy, social skills development, life transitions, and stress management. Her approach is strengths-based and mindfulness-informed, with the belief that you are the expert in your own life. Together, you can build on your existing strengths and resilience, explore challenges, deepen self-awareness, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

Laura integrates a range of evidence-based approaches to support your individual needs, including, but not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
