David is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with an MA in Counselling Psychology (Yorkville), a BA in English and Philosophy (Mount Allison), and a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies (Trinity College, Dublin). David specializes in working with people living with chronic complex medical conditions, environmental illnesses, and other often invisible disabilities. He also supports individuals working through histories of trauma and/or social stigmatization, those seeking to create fulfilling lives beyond anxiety, and people working through major life transitions. David has training and experience using narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), somatic experiencing, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), creative arts therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and work with archetypes using depth psychology. David’s two-decade career in higher education means he brings extensive experience in culture, symbolism, spirituality, community engagement, and the arts (literature, drama, philosophy) to bear on his work supporting individuals. David brings a warm and collaborative presence to the therapeutic space.
