Andrea is a Registered Social Worker with a diverse educational background. Andrea has earned a Bachelor Degree in Speech-Language Science from Brock University, a Post-Graduate Certification in Brain Disorders Management from Mohawk College, and, a Master of Social Work Degree from Wilfred Laurier University.  Andrea began her career as a Rehabilitation Therapist in the Neurobehavioural Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program before moving back to her hometown where she was excited to start her journey of pursuing her career in Social Work in the healthcare system. During Andrea’s time supporting patients in inpatient mental health, she built capacity to understand, appreciate, and advocate for mental health, substance use, high risk symptoms, and, crisis intervention.  In Andrea's work experience in the Emergency Department, she works with patients who are survivors of trauma, sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, homelessness, poverty, death of a loved one, and all medical, mental health and substance use emergencies.  Andrea’s areas of passion and expertise include working with individuals, couples, and families to support struggles with addiction, mental health (particularly anxiety, depression, and, personality disorders) and crisis intervention.  Andrea strives to practice from a place of non-judgement, collaboration, compassion, and authenticity, with her main goal being to create a therapeutic space where her clients feel heard and can be their authentic selves. Andrea empowers her clients by helping them gain an understanding of themselves and their mental health. She walks alongside her clients through difficult decisions, life changes, and managing day to day symptoms of mental illness that prevent people from being the best version of themselves.  Andrea is a proud advocate for mental health, disability, and addiction awareness, trauma informed care, and harm-reduction.  Andrea is proficient in the following therapeutic modalities:
