Amanda is a Registered Social Worker. Her educational background includes a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto with a focus on children and families, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work degree from McMaster University. Amanda brings 17 years of experience and expertise in the social work field working with children, youth, and families through an anti-oppressive, holistic, strengths based, and family focused lens. She has worked largely with children, youth and families who have experienced family conflict, grief, trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, substance misuse, intimate partner violence, mental illness symptoms, crisis, displacement, and adoption. Amanda is a proud member and advocate of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. She understands complex individual and family systems as well as societal barriers, inequity, discrimination, racism, and homophobia/transphobia/biphobia. Amanda strives to practice from a non-judgmental, compassionate, and supportive perspective that encourages transparency and collaboration. She also likes to use humour and creativity when developing rapport. Amanda empowers service users to build on their strengths so they can move forward and feel a sense of hopefulness in their lives.
