Anya is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She began her academic journey in Niagara, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Community Health at Brock University, followed by an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Humber Polytechnic. With over six years of experience in helping professions, Anya has worked across secondary and post-secondary settings in student affairs, as well as within community-based non-profit organizations supporting youth and young adults navigating mental health and substance use concerns. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to accessibility, authenticity, and relational care. As a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, Anya brings both professional expertise and lived experience into the therapy room. She is passionate about creating a space that feels non-judgmental, collaborative, and genuinely human. One where clients can show up as they are. Her approach is person-centred, warm, and curious, with a focus on helping clients build insight, develop practical coping strategies, and move toward meaningful, self-defined goals. Anya has a particular interest in integrating play, creativity, and storytelling into therapy. She frequently draws on video games, fandoms, and popular culture as tools for connection, reflection, and growth. Whether it’s exploring identity through character narratives, understanding emotional regulation through game mechanics, or using shared interests to build rapport, Anya believes that therapy can be both meaningful and engaging. This approach can be especially supportive for clients who may feel disconnected from more traditional therapeutic styles. Anya works with children (5+), youth, and adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, borderline personality disorder, relationship concerns, identity exploration, and life transitions. She is particularly attuned to working with clients who feel “stuck” between managing crises and struggling with everyday emotional experiences. Her integrative approach draws from a range of evidence-based modalities, including: · Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) · Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) · Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) · Motivational Interviewing (MI) · Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) · Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) · Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) · Prolonged Exposure (PE) · Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed · Play Therapy informed · Geek Therapy informed Anya believes that therapy doesn’t have to fit into a rigid box. Therapy can be creative, collaborative, and even a little playful. She strives to meet each client where they are, helping them build a life that feels more manageable, meaningful, and aligned with who they are.
